If you have been following the trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor, you know by now he was found guilty of 3 counts of murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter. The murder charges are for the heartless killing of three babies born alive, moving, gasping for air until he snipped their necks with scissors. Gruesome, I know. Many of us on the pro-life side of the argument are glad to see justice finally speak out for these speechless little ones who cannot defend themselves. But is this true justice? Does Kermit Gosnell really deserve the condemnation he has received?
Before you start worrying about my sanity, let me say that yes I believe he is guilty of murder, not just for the three babies, but for every single abortion that he performed. But according to the "laws" of our nation, Kermit Gosnell is not guilty of killing three babies, he is guilty of killing three babies in a way not permitted by "law". In other words, had he killed them in the womb, he would not be on trial for murder. If he was successful at murdering them in the womb he would still be in the killing business despite the fact these same three babies would still be dead.

Logically speaking there is no difference between snipping the neck of the baby outside of the womb from snipping it inside of the womb. Why does the law, and the pro-abortion camp insist doing this outside of the womb so horrifying and heartless (even to pro-abortion advocates) but inside the womb, it's perfectly fine? Seriously? Kermit Gosnell was set-up! At the start, we tell him he is doing a service! He is helping women - providing abortions is a good thing! But now we have contradicted ourselves by charging him with murder simply because he failed to do the dirty deed in the secret place of the womb (Psalm 139:13-15) where the butchering usually remains hidden from our seared consciences.
Albert Mohler is right in his recent article when he says: "...we must not miss the true meaning of the Gosnell trial...in reality the whole nation was on trial...all Americans are, by our laws, complicit in Dr. Gosnell’s evil. The real scandal is not just the babies murdered outside the womb, but the millions aborted legally — torn apart by blades, suctioned out as waste, poisoned unto death by drugs. The trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell revealed the truth about this homicidal doctor and his house of horrors, but it also revealed the moral house of mirrors behind which America hides. Dr. Gosnell is not alone in having the blood of babies on his hands."
Prosecutor Ed Cameron asked Gosnell: "Are you human? To med these women up and stick knives in the backs of babies?" Good question! A better question would be are any of us human? That is why I say Gosnell should be acquitted of the charges: He is not alone in his guilt but we have forced him to stand alone in some effort to pretend that we care about justice, to pretend like we have moral standards. We have thrown him under the bus and labeled him a horrible man to our own shame and condemnation. What hypocrites we are as a nation to label him a monster when in reality we are a nation of monsters! This trial was merely lip service to true justice. If our society was consistent with its own reasoning on the subject of abortion, it would acquit Gosnell, just to avoid being hypocritical liars.
Either he goes free or we all plead guilty.

God help us! "For great is the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us." (1 Kings 22:13)
